Jorge and Daniela, originally farmers from Mexico, relocated to the United States seven years ago. Initially unsure if they could continue farming, they enrolled in a winter business planning course at New Entry, which left them with the confidence to establish a small farm. Presently, they cultivate around 40 different types of vegetables at WhiteMarz Farm. They began growing mushrooms three years ago, learning from YouTube videos. They enjoy mushrooms due to their protein content, especially important for vegetarians like themselves. Jorge also likes growing mushrooms in the summer for its efficiency, as all the processes only take about five weeks, much shorter compared to other vegetables like onions and tomatoes that need months to grow.
