About Us
Kelly graduated from the Farm Business Planning Course in 2021. She is excited to be making her farming dream a reality as it has been a dream for many years. Growing food/plants has been something that brings joy to her since she was a child, helping her family start seeds in the greenhouse. When she started her teaching career as a special education teacher in Salem, she helped build a school garden at her school, and then founded an after school garden club to teach students about plants, gardening and food. The garden club grew, and she worked with Food and Nutrition Services to establish Farm to School practices in her school, connecting the school cafeteria to the classroom and community. Finally, she developed a food/farm/school garden based STEM curriculum that she taught as a specialist teacher, and partnered with UMass Extension Nutrition to also provide students with nutrition lessons. Kelly represented her school district, and partnered with Essex Technical High School and New Entry Sustainable Farming Project on a USDA Farm to school grant. She has also been involved with the Campaign for Food Literacy to support building food literacy into public school education. Through all of this she found her way to the Farm Business Planning course, where she decided it was time to pursue her farming dream. Kelly is a food-lover all around, and not only enjoys growing, but also cooking/preparing (and eating) food. She has spent much time working in kitchens in her teenage/college years, and had some professional training at the Culinary Institute of America.

Kelly’s mission with High Tide Farm is to provide high quality organically grown products that people will enjoy, while also practicing environmental stewardship through sustainable agricultural practices. Her products this year will include a variety of vegetables, greens, herbs, heirloom popcorn, melons, strawberries and flowers. She believes in the power of food to keep our bodies healthy as well as the power of good farming practices to keep our land healthy for future generations. She has two children of her own, ages 3 and 7, that she hopes to pass on a love of food and growing plants to.
